  • 2 cups Beef Broth Homemade or low-sodium store-bought works perfectly.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Adds umami flavor.
  • cup Ketchup Adds sweetness and tang.
  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice Rinsed to remove excess starch for fluffier grains.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese For gooey cheeseburger goodness.
  • optional Burger Toppings Such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sliced pickles.

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until tender, about 3 minutes.
  • Add lean ground beef. Cook until browned, crumbling as you go, about 7 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Season with kosher salt and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Stir until combined.
  • Stir in rinsed long-grain white rice.
  • Bring to a boil, then cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Serve hot, topped with your favorite burger toppings.

Notes

Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving to meld the flavors. For extra richness, add a dollop of sour cream when serving.
