  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Basic but essential for caramel.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Adds depth and complexity.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt Enhances sweetness and balances flavor.

Topping Ingredients

  • 2 cups Semi-sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips Opt for a flavored variety if desired.
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (Pecans or Almonds) You can toast them lightly for extra flavor.

Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt your butter over medium heat.
  • Once melted, stir in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
  • Cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), stirring constantly.
  • Pour the mixture onto your prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly.
  • While the toffee is hot, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and let them melt.
  • Spread the melted chocolate for an even glaze.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the melted chocolate and gently press them in.
  • Let it cool completely, then crack it into pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Freeze for up to two months if layered between parchment.
