Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 cans Green beans (14.5 oz each, drained) You can opt for fresh green beans if you prefer.
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz) Canned version is convenient; homemade can be used as a healthier alternative.
  • 1 cup Milk Dairy-free options include almond or oat milk.
  • 1.5 cups French fried onions Add more if desired; homemade versions can be made from sautéed onions.
  • Salt and pepper (to taste) Essential for enhancing flavors.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and season with salt and pepper. Mix gently.
  • Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish, ensuring an even layer.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • Stir in 1 cup of French fried onions and return to the oven.
  • Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the onions are golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can freeze it but be cautious that the crispy onions may lose their crunch when reheated. To reheat, use the oven at low temperature or microwave gently, adding a splash of milk if it seems dry.
