Main Ingredients

  • 2 slices slices of bread Choose your favorite variety, such as sourdough or whole grain.
  • 2 slices slices of cheese Sharp cheddar or creamy mozzarella are recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons of pesto Homemade or quality store-bought pesto works.
  • 1 tablespoon of butter For a golden brown exterior; ghee or olive oil can be used as alternatives.

Preparation

  • Spread pesto on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread pesto-side up on a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add cheese on top of the pesto side of the bread.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top, pesto-side down.
  • Spread butter on the outer sides of the sandwich.

Cooking

  • Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until the cheese is melted and both sides are golden.
  • Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, try different cheeses or include fresh herbs. Pairing with tomato soup or a side salad can enhance the meal experience. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a skillet for optimal texture.
